What this guide covers

This guide explains how to add optional line items to quotes in JobsiteOn. You will learn how to mark items as optional, how they appear on the proposal, and how customers interact with them when reviewing your quote.

What are optional line items

Optional line items are services or products included in your proposal that the customer can choose to accept or decline. They are not included in the quote total by default but appear as available upgrades or add-ons.

Common examples:

Adding an optional line item

  1. Open the quote builder at /quotes/[slug] in edit mode or create a new quote at /quotes/new.
  2. Add a line item using Add from Pricebook or Add Line Item.
  3. After the item appears in the list, toggle the Optional switch on that row.
  4. The item is now marked as optional and excluded from the quote total.

How optional items appear on the proposal

On the customer-facing proposal PDF and portal view:

Customer interaction with optional items

When the customer views the quote in the portal at /q/[token]:

Tip: Use optional items strategically to upsell without making the base quote seem expensive. Customers appreciate having choices.

Converting optional items to required

If the customer decides to include an optional item:

  1. Open the quote in edit mode.
  2. Toggle off the Optional switch on the item.
  3. The item is now included in the quote total.
  4. Save and resend the updated quote.
