Edit a Sent Quote
Make changes to a quote after it has been sent, update the proposal, and resend the revised version to your customer.
What this guide covers
This guide explains how to edit a quote that has already been sent to a customer. You will learn what can be changed, how to resend the updated version, and how the customer is notified of the revision.
When to edit a sent quote
You may need to revise a sent quote when:
- The customer requests a change to the scope or pricing.
- You discover an error in the line items or totals.
- Material or labor costs have changed since the original send.
- The customer wants additional items added to the proposal.
How to edit a sent quote
- Open the quote detail page at
/quotes/[slug]. - Click Edit in the action bar.
- The quote builder opens with all current details.
- Make your changes:
- Add, remove, or modify line items.
- Update quantities or prices.
- Change the contact, property, or scope.
- Adjust notes, terms, or the expiration date.
- Click Save to save the updated quote.

Resending the updated quote
After saving your edits:
- Return to the quote detail page.
- Review the updated PDF preview to confirm your changes.
- Click Send to resend the quote.
- The customer receives a new email with the revised proposal.
- The client link at
/q/[token]is updated to show the latest version.
Tip: Include a brief message in the email body explaining what changed. This helps the customer understand why they received an updated version.
What happens to the original version
- The quote status remains at its current state (Sent, Viewed, etc.) after editing.
- The activity log records that the quote was edited, including what fields changed and who made the changes.
- The previous version is not separately accessible. The quote always shows its current state.
Note: If the customer has already accepted the original quote, editing and resending effectively replaces the accepted version. Communicate with the customer before making changes to an accepted quote.
What you can and cannot change
| Can change | Cannot change |
|---|---|
| Line items and pricing | Quote number |
| Contact and property | Creation date |
| Notes and terms | Activity history |
| Expiration date | Previous send records |
| Tax configuration |
Best practices
- Always communicate with the customer before revising an accepted quote.
- Review the full quote after editing, not just the changed items, to catch any unintended side effects.
- Use the activity log to track the revision history.
- Resend promptly after editing so the customer does not reference an outdated version.
