What this guide covers

This guide explains how to find and manage events that have not yet been assigned to a team member. Unassigned events are work items that need to be dispatched -- they exist on the schedule but no one is responsible for them yet. You will learn how to use the unassigned panel to review, prioritize, and assign these events.

By the end you will know how to:

  • Locate the unassigned events panel
  • Review unassigned event details
  • Assign events to team members from the panel
  • Drag unassigned events onto team columns in dispatch view

Before you begin

  • You need access to the Schedule module
  • The dispatch board view is the best place to manage unassigned events
  • At least one unassigned event must exist to follow along with this guide

What are unassigned events?

Unassigned events are scheduled items that have a date and time but no team member assigned. They can be created when:

  • A new event is created without selecting an assignee
  • An event is created from a job or estimate that does not specify a team member
  • A previously assigned team member was removed from an event

These events need attention because no one will show up for them until they are assigned.

Tip: Make checking the unassigned panel a daily habit, especially if multiple people on your team create events. It prevents jobs from falling through the cracks.

Step 1 -- Open the dispatch board

Navigate to Schedule from the left sidebar and switch to Dispatch view using the view switcher in the schedule header. The dispatch board shows team member columns and an unassigned panel.

Step 2 -- Locate the unassigned panel

The unassigned panel typically appears on the left side of the dispatch board or as a dedicated section at the top. It contains all events for the selected date that have not been assigned to anyone.

Each unassigned event card shows:

  • Event title or customer name
  • Scheduled time
  • Event type badge
  • Location or address (if available)

Step 3 -- Review event details

Click on any unassigned event card to open its detail panel. Review the full information including:

  • Customer contact information
  • Job reference and property address
  • Event description and notes
  • Required skills or equipment

This context helps you decide which team member is the best fit for the assignment.

Step 4 -- Assign from the detail panel

In the event detail panel, use the Assignee field to search for and select a team member. Click Save and the event moves from the unassigned panel to the selected team member's column on the dispatch board.

Step 5 -- Drag and drop to assign

For quick assignment, you can drag an event card directly from the unassigned panel onto a team member's column in dispatch view. The event snaps into the correct time slot on that team member's schedule.

Managing multiple unassigned events

If you have many unassigned events for a given day:

  • Sort by time -- Review events in chronological order to assign morning jobs first
  • Sort by location -- Group events by area to minimize travel time between jobs
  • Bulk assign -- Select multiple events and assign them all to the same team member if they are related

Note: The number of unassigned events for the current date is displayed as a badge on the unassigned panel header. If the badge shows zero, all events for that day have been assigned.

Checking other dates

Use the date navigation controls in the schedule header to move forward or backward. The unassigned panel updates to show unassigned events for the selected date. Check the next few days regularly to stay ahead of your dispatch needs.
