Capture Projects and Job Records

Understand how a Capture project links to a Job without replacing the customer, property, schedule, quote, or invoice record.

One job, one documentation record

A Capture Project may stand alone, but most companies link it to a Job. The Job remains the source for the customer, property, schedule, Quotes, and Invoices. Capture owns the evidence: photos, comments, checklists, Pages, reports, proposals, and shares.

With Automatically create a Capture project for new Jobs enabled, creating a Job also creates and links its project. The Photos area on the Job then shows one merged history, identifying whether each image came from Capture or the legacy Job photo list.

What linking changes

Linking supplies the project address and job context used for map pins, geofence suggestions, templates, and document fields. A location copied from an address is marked approximate; it is never presented as device-recorded GPS.

Unlinking does not erase history. Managers can link the project again later. If a proposal needs to create or update a Quote, the project must have a Job or property because every JobsiteOn Quote belongs to that financial record.

Change the automatic-link policy under Settings → Capture.
