Assign Team Members to Jobs

Learn how to assign one or more team members to a job so the right people are dispatched and notified.

What this guide covers

This guide explains how to assign team members to jobs in JobsiteOn. You will learn how to add assignees during job creation, update assignments on existing jobs, and understand how notifications work when assignments change.

Adding team members during job creation

  1. Open /jobs/new to start a new job.
  2. Fill in the job title, contact, and property details.
  3. Scroll to the Assigned Team section.
  4. Click Add Member and search for a team member by name.
  5. Select the person to add them. Repeat for additional assignees.
  6. Click Save to create the job with the selected team.

Updating assignments on an existing job

  1. Navigate to the job detail page at /jobs/[slug].
  2. In the Assigned Team section, click Add Member to bring up the search dropdown.
  3. Select one or more team members to add them to the job.
  4. To remove a member, click the X icon next to their name.
  5. Changes save automatically and are logged in the activity feed.

How notifications work

When you assign a team member to a job, the following happens:

  • The team member receives an in-app notification with the job title and a link to the detail page.
  • If email notifications are enabled in their account settings, they also receive an email.
  • The job appears in the team member's personal task list under My Jobs.
  • Removing an assignee sends a removal notification so they know they are no longer responsible.

Tip: Encourage your team to enable push notifications so they are alerted to new assignments in real time.

Viewing who is assigned

You can see current assignments in two places:

  • Job detail page — The Assigned Team section shows avatars and names of all assignees.
  • Jobs list — The assignee column displays the first assignee's name with a count badge if multiple people are assigned.

Reassigning a job

To transfer a job from one person to another:

  1. Open the job detail page.
  2. Remove the current assignee by clicking the X next to their name.
  3. Add the new assignee using Add Member.
  4. Both the removed and added team members receive notifications about the change.

Note: Reassignment does not affect the job status. The job stays in its current stage regardless of who is assigned.

Best practices

  • Assign team members before scheduling so your dispatch board shows the correct crew.
  • Use multiple assignees when a job requires a team rather than a single technician.
  • Keep assignments updated when personnel change so notifications reach the right people.
