What this guide covers

This guide explains how to create and use quote templates in JobsiteOn. You will learn how to build templates from scratch, save existing quotes as templates, and create new quotes from a template for fast proposal generation.

Why use quote templates

If you regularly quote the same types of work, templates save significant time. A template can include:

  • Pre-configured line items with default quantities and prices.
  • Standard notes and terms.
  • Tax configuration.
  • A descriptive title and scope summary.

Instead of building each quote from scratch, you start with a template and customize for the specific customer.

Creating a template from scratch

  1. Navigate to /quotes/templates.
  2. Click New Template.
  3. Enter a template name that describes the service type, such as "Standard Lawn Care Package" or "Kitchen Renovation Estimate."
  4. Add line items from your pricebook or manually.
  5. Set default quantities and prices.
  6. Add standard notes and terms.
  7. Configure tax settings.
  8. Click Save Template.

Saving an existing quote as a template

If you have created a well-structured quote that you want to reuse:

  1. Open the quote detail page at /quotes/[slug].
  2. Click the overflow menu (...).
  3. Select Save as Template.
  4. Enter a template name.
  5. Review the pre-filled details.
  6. Click Save Template.

The template captures line items, notes, terms, and tax settings. Contact and property information is not included.

Tip: Save your best-performing quotes as templates. If a proposal had a high acceptance rate, its structure is worth reusing.

Creating a quote from a template

  1. Navigate to /quotes/new.
  2. Click Use Template at the top of the form.
  3. Select a template from the list.
  4. The form populates with the template's line items, notes, terms, and tax settings.
  5. Link the specific contact and property.
  6. Adjust line items, quantities, or prices as needed.
  7. Set the expiration date.
  8. Click Save to create the quote as a draft.

Managing templates

Editing a template

  1. Go to /quotes/templates.
  2. Click a template to open it.
  3. Make your changes.
  4. Click Save Template.

Changes do not affect quotes already created from the template.

Deleting a template

  1. Open the template.
  2. Click the overflow menu (...) and select Delete Template.
  3. Confirm the deletion.

Best practices

  • Create templates for your top five to ten most common quote types.
  • Keep template pricing updated as your pricebook rates change.
  • Name templates descriptively so team members can find the right one instantly.
  • Review templates quarterly to add new services or remove discontinued ones.
