What this guide covers

This guide walks you through setting up two-factor authentication (2FA) on your JobsiteOn account. You can enroll an authenticator app, a passkey, or both.

Note: Enrollment is available now. JobsiteOn is not yet prompting for a second factor at sign-in, so enrolling does not change how you sign in today. This article is updated when that step goes live.

Before you begin

For an authenticator app, install one on your phone: 1Password, Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or any TOTP-compatible app, and have it nearby to scan the QR code.

For a passkey, use a device with biometrics or a security key: Face ID, Touch ID, Windows Hello, or a hardware key.

Step 1: Open Sign-In & Security

  1. Go to /settings.
  2. Under Personal, click Sign-In & Security.
  3. Find the Two-Factor Authentication section. A badge shows whether your account is Active or Inactive.

Step 2: Set up an authenticator app

  1. Next to Authenticator App (TOTP), click Set up.
  2. Scan the QR code with your authenticator app. If you cannot scan it, click Can't scan? Enter the key manually and type the setup key instead. On a phone, Or open your authenticator app directly hands the key over.
  3. Your app starts generating a new six-digit code every 30 seconds.
  4. Enter the current code and click Verify and enable.

Step 3: Save your recovery codes

After verification, JobsiteOn shows ten recovery codes. This is the only time they are displayed. JobsiteOn stores only a hashed copy and cannot show them again.

Tip: Treat recovery codes like a spare key. Store them somewhere safe but reachable in an emergency.

Step 4: Add a passkey

A passkey signs you in with biometrics instead of a code.

  1. Next to Passkeys, click Add passkey.
  2. Approve the prompt from your device, Face ID, Touch ID, Windows Hello, or your security key.
  3. The passkey appears in the list, named for the device you used.

Click Test to run a full check and confirm the passkey works. Registered passkeys can be removed from the same list.

You can register several passkeys, one per device. The same device cannot be enrolled twice.

Removing an authenticator app

  1. Go to /settings > Personal > Sign-In & Security.
  2. Next to Authenticator App (TOTP), click Remove.
  3. Enter a current code from your authenticator app, or one of your recovery codes, then confirm.

A valid code is required on purpose: it stops someone using an open session on your computer from quietly stripping protection off your account.

Note: Removing your authenticator app reduces your account security. Only do it if you plan to re-enroll, such as when moving to a new phone.
