Set Up Your Notification Preferences
Choose which events trigger email and push notifications so you stay informed without being overwhelmed.
What this guide covers
This guide explains how to configure your notification preferences in JobsiteOn. You will learn which events can trigger notifications, how to toggle email and push notifications independently, and how to set a schedule for notification delivery.
Before you begin
Notification preferences are personal -- each team member configures their own. You do not need any special role to change your notification settings.
Step 1: Open notification settings
- Click your profile avatar in the sidebar
- Select Notification Preferences
Screenshot: Notification preferences page showing a table of event types on the left with two columns of toggles: "Email" and "Push" for each event type
Step 2: Understand notification categories
JobsiteOn groups notifications into categories based on what triggers them:
| Category | Events |
|---|---|
| Jobs | Job created, status changed, assigned to you, overdue |
| Quotes | Quote sent, viewed, accepted, declined |
| Invoices | Invoice sent, viewed, paid, overdue |
| Inbox | New message received, reply to your thread |
| Schedule | Event assigned to you, event rescheduled, reminder |
| Team | New member invited, role changed |
Step 3: Toggle email notifications
For each event type, toggle the Email switch on or off. When enabled, you receive an email to your account email address every time that event occurs.
Tip: For high-volume events like "Job status changed," consider disabling email and relying on push notifications instead. This keeps your inbox manageable.
Step 4: Toggle push notifications
Push notifications appear as browser notifications on desktop or as mobile notifications if you have added JobsiteOn to your home screen.
- Toggle the Push switch for each event type
- If prompted, allow browser notifications when your browser asks for permission
Screenshot: Browser permission dialog asking "JobsiteOn wants to send you notifications" with "Allow" and "Block" buttons
Note: If you previously blocked notifications in your browser, you will need to manually enable them in your browser's site settings. In Chrome, click the lock icon in the address bar and set Notifications to "Allow."
Step 5: Set quiet hours
If you do not want notifications outside business hours:
- Scroll to the Quiet Hours section
- Toggle quiet hours on
- Set a start time (e.g., 6:00 PM) and end time (e.g., 7:00 AM)
- During quiet hours, notifications are held and delivered when quiet hours end
Tip: Quiet hours help you disconnect after work. Urgent matters can still be handled by checking the app directly, but routine notifications will not interrupt your evening.
