What this guide covers

This guide explains how to reopen a completed job in JobsiteOn. You will learn when reopening is appropriate, how to change the status back, and what happens to the job record when you do.

When to reopen a job

Common reasons to reopen a completed job include:

  • The customer reports an issue that requires a return visit.
  • The crew discovers they missed a task or overlooked part of the scope.
  • An inspection failed and corrective work is needed.
  • The job was completed by mistake before all work was finished.

How to reopen a job

  1. Open the completed job at /jobs/[slug].
  2. Click the Status dropdown in the header.
  3. Select In Progress or Pending depending on the situation.
  4. The status badge updates immediately.
  5. The change is recorded in the activity feed with your name and a timestamp.

What happens when you reopen a job

  • The job reappears in the active jobs list and is no longer filtered under Completed only.
  • Previously assigned team members are still assigned unless you change them.
  • The dispatch board and schedule views include the job again.
  • All existing history, notes, tasks, and files remain intact.

Tip: Add a note explaining why the job was reopened. This provides context for your team and creates a clear record in the activity log.

Adding follow-up tasks

After reopening a job, add new tasks to capture the additional work:

  1. Scroll to the Tasks section on the job detail page.
  2. Click Add Task and enter the follow-up work items.
  3. The task progress bar adjusts to reflect the new total.

Note: Reopening a job does not affect any invoices already created from it. If additional billing is required, create a new invoice or edit the existing one.

Best practices

  • Always add a note when reopening so the reason is documented.
  • Reassess the priority level after reopening in case urgency has changed.
  • Notify the assigned team about the reopened job so they can plan the return visit.
