What this guide covers

This guide explains how to access and read the job activity log in JobsiteOn. You will learn what events are tracked, how to navigate the history timeline, and how to use the log for accountability and customer communication.

Accessing the activity log

  1. Open the job detail page at /jobs/[slug].
  2. Scroll down to the Activity section.
  3. The activity log displays events in reverse chronological order, with the most recent event at the top.

What the activity log tracks

Every significant action on a job is recorded automatically:

Event type What is logged
Job created Who created the job and initial details
Status change Old status, new status, who changed it, and when
Team assignment Members added or removed
Task added New task title and who added it
Task completed Which task was checked off and by whom
Note added The note content and author
File uploaded File name, type, and who uploaded it
Customer email sent Recipient, subject, and delivery status
Job edited Which fields changed and the old and new values

Reading the timeline

Each entry in the log shows:

  • User avatar and name — Who performed the action.
  • Action description — A plain-language summary of what happened.
  • Timestamp — The exact date and time of the event.

Tip: Hover over a relative timestamp (for example, "2 hours ago") to see the exact date and time.

Using history for accountability

The activity log provides an immutable audit trail. Use it to:

  • Verify work timing — Confirm when a job moved to In Progress and when it was completed.
  • Resolve disputes — Show a customer exactly when a status change or communication occurred.
  • Track team performance — Review how quickly tasks are completed and who is driving progress.
  • Audit communication — See every email sent to the customer from the job record.

Filtering the activity log

For jobs with extensive history, use the filter options above the log:

  • All activity — Show everything.
  • Status changes — Show only status transitions.
  • Communications — Show only emails and messages sent.
  • Notes — Show only internal notes added by your team.

Note: The activity log is read-only. Events cannot be edited or deleted, which ensures the integrity of your records.

Best practices

  • Review the activity log before calling a customer about a job to ensure you have the latest context.
  • Use the log during team meetings to discuss job progress and identify bottlenecks.
  • Reference activity log timestamps when responding to customer inquiries about project timelines.
